Description
Paphiopedilum venustum is the first Paphiopedilum identified by European explorers.
Distribution
Plants are found growing in the jungle on mossy trees, muddy river banks , and cliffs with leaf humus in Assam, Darjeeling, and Sikkim states of India at elevations of 300 to 1500 meters. The area is subjected to heavy rains during the summer and fall, High humidity in the spring and moderate amounts of rain in the winter.
Culture
Keep plants in moderate to shady lighting with humidity at 60 to 80% with an cool to intermediate temperatures. Pot in a well drain mix such as medium fir bark and perlite. To induce blooming, reduce watering and lower temperatures during the winter.
