Found in the eastern Himalayas, Assam India, Nepal and Sikkim in evergreen temperate forests at elevations of 1000 to 2000 meters as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphytic species with a rhizome enveloped by fibrous sheaths and giving rise to a single, apical, ovate-elliptic, subacute to obtuse, narrowing basally into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the summer on a basal from the rhizome, erect then to arcuate, stout, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, racemose, 7 to 20 flowered inflorescence with the non-resupinate flowers appearing in a helix pattern and hel;d close to the inflorescence.
