Pseudobulbs small. Leaves 2-4, erect, ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, acute, with up to 20 cm long, chanelled petioles, blade 20-30 x 4-10 cm. Scape axillary, base enclosed with some leaf-like sheaths. Inflorescence not exceeding the leaves, densely many-flowered, rachis minutely pubescent. Flower about 3 cm across. Perianth segments subequal, pale dull violet; sepals spreading, ovate-lanceolate, acute, c.15 mm long; petals slightly smaller, subfalcate, reflexed. Labellum somewhat darker lilac, connate for the whole length of the column, 3-lobed; side-lobes rhombic-obovate; mid-lobe cuneate-obovate, apiculate; disk 3-lamellate at base. Spur slender, pendulous, as long as or slightly longer than the pedicellate ovary. Ovary downy, pedicel twisted.

Distribution: Himalaya Mts. in forests. From Kashmir eastwards to Nepal-Bhutan, at elevations up to 2800 m.
